Tammie Marie Vallejo December 26, 1973 – June 15, 2025

Tammie Marie Vallejo was born on December 26, 1973, in Harvey, Illinois, to Helen and Leonard Hammond. From a young age, her bright spirit and strong will were clear to everyone who knew her. While attending Brooks Junior High, she met the love of her life, Jose Vallejo. Their connection grew into a beautiful partnership that would span decades, filled with devotion, laughter, and the joys of raising a family together.

Tammie and Jose built a life centered around love and family. Together, they raised five incredible children: twins Alyssa and Marissa, Steven, Vanessa, and Jaxson. Tammie was a tireless and loving mother—always present, always cheering them on, and always making sure they had what they needed, often before they even asked. Whether it was cheering at swim meets or encouraging synchronized ice skating for Vanessa, she poured herself into every moment of their lives.

To know Tammie was to know joy, energy, and compassion. She was bubbly and silly, always quick with a joke or a dance, always dressed to impress. She loved deeply and unconditionally, gave the best advice, and had a remarkable ability to understand what each person in her life needed. She was the rock of her family, the keeper of the schedule, and the glue that held everyone together.

Tammie never wasted a thing her work ethic was unmatched. She was loyal to a fault, a fierce protector of those she loved, and a source of steady encouragement to everyone she met. Her presence filled every room, and her absence will be felt deeply.

She is survived by her beloved husband Jose Vallejo, whom she married in Posen, Illinois; her children Alyssa Vallejo and her husband Colin Phillips, Marissa Solis and her husband Carlos Solis, Steven Vallejo, Vanessa Vallejo, and Jaxson Vallejo; and her cherished grandchildren Savannah and Scarlet. She is also survived by her sister Karen Handing, her mother Helen Eagle, several aunts, numerous cousins, and more friends than can be counted.

Tammie is reunited in peace with her father Leonard Hammond, her brothers Lenny Hammond and Shane Savage, her cousin Cody Zigler, her grandparents Bernard and Helen Eagle, and her aunt Carol Winning.

Tammie’s life was one of love, laughter, and boundless care for others. Her legacy lives on in her children, her grandchildren, and everyone she touched with her vibrant, loving soul.

She will be missed beyond words and remembered always.
